Mission Statement
At Discovery Dream School, we believe in the value and uniqueness of each child and family we serve. Our center experience is designed to promote each child’s own individual social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. As caregivers and educators, our mission is to encourage respect and honesty into each individual child, provide a safe and developmentally appropriate learning environment, which fosters a child’s natural instinct to explore, discover, create and become a lifelong learner.
Philosophy
The board of directors and staff of Discovery Dream School believe that children learn best in a structured play based learning environment. Our teachers play a big role in your child’s success because good teachers make great students. Education is more than just learning from books, it’s also about obtaining life skills. We take great pride in making sure your child has an understanding of resilience, determination, and perseverance because even when your child finds something difficult this approach will teach them that they can achieve, overcome, and execute anything.
We believe that in the right environment a child’s natural curiosity and creativity leads to endless opportunities to grow in knowledge and develop a love of learning. We provide that environment at Discovery Dream School by making it a safe and nurturing place where your child will be encouraged to build, splash, dash, pretend and create their way to exciting discoveries about the world around them.
Each day with us will be a chance for your child to grow socially, cognitively, emotionally, and physically. As early as infancy, your child will be provided with learning opportunities adapted to fit his or her age, developmental stage, and learning style. Full-day, year-round care and all-day preschool in one location makes it possible for you to provide your child with the care and education that will help them become happy, healthy lifelong learners.
About OUR OWNER
Latronda has a Child Development Associates and 7 plus years of hands-on experience working with children. She is currently enrolled at Metro Community College and is set to graduate with her business management degree. This degree will add significant value as both a Director and Owner of a Quality Child Care Center.
Latronda has always been passionate about children. She naturally becomes the caretaker for everyone around her. At seven years old she knew that she wanted to own her own childcare center. It's not a job for her but a calling. Latronda has always been the babysitter of her family and She learned early on how to demonstrate patiences, leadership and willingness to help those around her. This required her to assist in the care of her family members and develop a love for advocating, supporting and encouraging children. All children deserve love, support and to learn in a safe and nurturing environment. This is especially important during the first five years of life. During this time we are setting the stage for future social, emotional and physical development.
The last four years Latronda has worked at one of the highest ranking Childcare Centers in her area. She started as an assistant and became a lead teacher very quickly by demonstrating leadership and passion for children.

So she also worked for a before and after school program where she gained more hands-on knowledge. Latronda soon moved up to a behavior paraeducator. This position allowed her to see the impact social emotional development has on children. With that knowledge, she was promoted to assistant director. This position helped her see the ends and outs behind a childcare business. Latronda now has helped run a very reputable and successful child care program and is ready to accomplish the next goal for her business and community which is to open her own childcare center. Discovery Dream School will be an ever-growing school, striving to accommodate all geographic families with the quality care they deserve.

Frog Street was built by early childhood educators, focusing on the philosophy that childhood is a period of development. Since there is so much to learn and such a short period of opportunity, Frog Street's mission is to help teachers and caregivers make the journey both joyful and purposeful for all children. Frog Street is a comprehensive, research- based curriculum that integrates sequenced instruction across all developmental domains.

JOYFUL ENVIRONMENT
Children are joyful! Frog Street's curriculum and resources are designed to spark a child’s natural instinct to explore, discover, and create a joyful experience. The curriculum is filled with songs, music, hands-on materials and activities, chants, games, and dramatic play, designed to stimulate a child’s imagination, helping make each day a wonderful one!
INTENTIONALITY OF INSTRUCTION
All of the curriculum and programs are aimed at one thing: igniting the minds of young children by fostering their academic, social and emotional growth through purposeful lessons and materials that intentionally produce a positive outcome.
BILINGUAL INSTRUCTION
Frog Street programs offer instruction with teacher dialogue in both languages for ease of teaching in bilingual classrooms.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Frog Street offers training both onsite and at their annual Splash conference to help each educator better their skills at providing differentiated instruction and a joyful approach to learning.
Enrichment Programs
Little Engineers
Based on research, hands-on engineering activities help empower young children to see themselves as problem solvers. Children also gain the knowledge in understanding that failure is a learning opportunity.
Mini Chefs
Hands on cooking activities help children develop confidence and following recipes encourages children to be self directed and independent. This skill also teaches children how to follow directions and develop problem-solving skills.
Young Musicians
Music ignites all areas of child development and skills for school readiness, including intellectual, social-emotional, motor, language, and overall literacy. Music also helps children learn the sounds and meanings of words.
Technology Wizards
Technology can be very beneficial in children's learning. It creates a multisensory and interactive learning experience. Discovery Dream School will use ABC mouse and other learning tools to expand educational opportunities.
School Uniforms
Discovery Dream School feel that there are a number of good reasons to have school uniforms for all Children in our care,
and here are just a few reasons why:
Identity
One main reason why we love our school uniforms is that we believe children share a sense of belonging and camaraderie. The feeling of belonging helps create a school spirit as well as a sense of community within our school. Our children's uniform shirt has the Discovery Dream School name and logo.
Equality
We live in a world full of brands and fashion and one of the biggest advantages of having a school uniform is that it will reduce judging, teasing and bullying.
Consistency
Discovery Dream School believes that a school uniform encourages positive behavior, and everyday that a child puts on their school uniform they will associate it with learning and knowing what to expect daily. After all, children thrive on consistency. Also, as everyone is wearing the same thing, children don’t get side-tracked by fashion trends and the focus remains on learning as external distractions are limited.
Financial
It is far cheaper to buy school uniforms every school year rather than a whole wardrobe of new school clothes. Our school uniforms are economical and designed to withstand regular washing and wear.

Control
Schools that don’t have a uniform policy will still have their rules on what clothing is and should not be worn at school. These rules may include no symbols, no obvious logos, no offensive language on clothing, etc. No uniform also means that staff and parents will need to keep an eye on what’s been worn at school. When children wear a school uniform, all of this is not an issue, which helps to alleviate the headache of monitoring what children are wearing to school.

Parents don’t have to worry about what outfit to put on their child as everyone knows what will be worn. Wearing a school uniform at Discovery Dream School does not mean that you don’t have the opportunity for expression. All children will be required to wear a school uniform Monday - Thursday and Friday will be spirit day which is when all children are allowed to express themselves through their choice of fashion.

Uniform Colors:
The Discovery Dream School uniform shirt will have the logo and name on the right side and will come in a red, or blue color option.
Bottoms have to either be gray, black or navy blue.
Discovery Dream School will also have a dress option available that will only come in gray which will also have the school name and logo on the right side.
Shoes
All children will be required to wear closed toed shoes Monday - Friday to prevent as many accidents as possible.
Children 2 years and up are required to wear the school uniform.
Nutrition
Here at Discovery Dream School, we believe that children from 18 months or older should follow a healthy eating schedule. Eating healthy food helps with your child’s attention span, cognitive function, and memory. We will provide your child / children with 2 snacks a day along with breakfast and lunch. According to research children’s abstract reasoning skills improve when they have a snack that contains nutrients.
The US department of agriculture recommends the use of Myplate for childcare centers across the world because it contains the five healthy food groups that will help your child maintain healthy bones and improve their academic performance. Even though H20 is not present on the myplate, we encourage each child to drink at least 2 cups of water daily because staying hydrated helps with your child's digestion and keeps them happy and active.
Discovery Dream School prepares all meals in the building and makes all meals healthy for children.

Infant Program
The first 5 years of your child/children's life lay the foundation for future success. We understand you wish you could be there for each and every moment. That’s why we collaborate with our families. We have highly trained staff who work so closely with parents that they often feel Discovery Dream School is part of their extended family. Our approach to infant care and learning is as professional as it is personal.
Our infant room is a shoe free environment built for little discoverers. When your child/ children start to discover the world around them by babbling and crawling, it's important for them to do it with no restraints. We also offer flexible napping and feeding schedules to fit your infant's needs. At this age it is important to follow the child's cues.
The Frog Street curriculum includes daily age appropriate activities for each child designed to build strong foundations. The program optimizes key windows of opportunity for growth and development, is designed with intention and purpose and organized around developmental learning domains, and practices Conscious Discipline strategies to enhance social and emotional development.
Toddler Program
Lifelong success comes from the experiences and interactions your child/children have during their first five years of life. In our Toddler Program your inquisitive little discoverer can channel his or her unlimited energy and curiosity into fun activities in a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment. Your child/children will have lots of opportunities to express their self-confidence and blossoming independence within our well-structured Toddler Program.
Toddlers will be immersed in a language-rich environment essential for developing both receptive and expressive language skills. The Frog Street curriculum focuses on enhancing the simple joy of childhood while nurturing curiosity through exploration and incorporates Conscious Discipline. The program is organized around five developmental domains, offers differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all learners, is infused into daily routines, and is designed with intention and purpose to move children forward in their development.
Preschool Program
The experiences your child/children have from birth to 5 years of age shape's their attitudes, aptitudes, and achievements for years to come. Our Preschool Program students are in their peak years of acquiring new skills and knowledge. Research proves that 90% of a child’s brain develops by the age of five.
Preschoolers are special! They are transitioning from parallel play to interactive play, and their language capacity is blossoming. Frog Street curriculum includes activities developed around early brain development research, well-rounded scope of activities that address all developmental domains, intentional instruction that optimizes key windows of opportunity for growth and development, and social and emotional emphasis featuring Conscious Discipline.
Pre-Kindergarten
Welcome to your child/rens senior year at Discovery Dream School!!!!Kindergarten programs are more academically advanced now than they ever have been, and many children enter unprepared. Research proves that over 200,000 kids repeat kindergarten every year therefore, a high-quality and well structured Pre-K educational program is essential for all children to prepare them for their next stage of learning and life.
Frog Street Pre-K curriculum focuses on the early guidelines for Kindergarten readiness. It is a comprehensive,dual-language program designed to meet the needs of diverse learners while supporting developmental learning domains. The curriculum is a research-based program that integrates instruction across all developmental domains. All children practice Conscious Discipline to help support and learn social and emotional skills, proven to set children up for life-long success in the classroom.
